Kusadasi (Ephesus), TurkeyKusadasi isn't much to look at, but a great place to buy a Persian rug. However, the main attraction is the ancient city of Ephesus about 30 minutes away by car. It is said to be the largest excavation of an ancient Roman city. |

Split, CroatiaSmaller than Dubrovnik, but interesting. The mix of centuries of mixed Roman, Gothic and other ruins makes it look like a Piranesi etching. |
