Valencia, Spain

We arrived here on a Sunday, so not much was open save for restaurants and churches. We did manage a good paella lunch before running back to the ship!

A quick tour...

Florence, Italy

It was in the 90s and humid. I finally got into Il Duomo to see the dome from the inside.

Lunch made it all worthwile...

Santorini, Greece

This arid volcano has become one of my favorite places in the Mediterranean. It never ceases to amaze me how it just clings to this hostile landscape and be so beautiful at the same time. We take the city bus (Euro 1.40) to Oia for lunch.

The far side of the island.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), Turkey

Kusadasi isn't much to look at, but a great place to buy a Persian rug. However, the main attraction is the ancient city of Ephesus about 30 minutes away by car. It is said to be the largest excavation of an ancient Roman city.

Climb over some ruins.

Istanbul, Turkey

From the mosques to the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul never ceases to fascinate me. This time, i got to some of the city's Byzantine sites.

Gaze at Medusa...safely.

Corfu, Greece

This may be the greenest of the Greek Isles. It reminds me of Sorrento, Italy and you can see Albania on a clear day.

We're gonna climb that?

Split, Croatia

Smaller than Dubrovnik, but interesting. The mix of centuries of mixed Roman, Gothic and other ruins makes it look like a Piranesi etching.

Let's get lost.
